War! huh-yeah What is it good for?
A short time ago, another flag declared war on Midnight Yacht Club. A lot of our crew mates have never experienced war, so there were a lot of questions. This post should answer most questions if it ever happens again.
A flag’s royalty may declare war on another flag for any reason by a majority vote. War can only be declared by a flag against another flag. Individual crews can’t declare war.
The original declaration will prevent the other flags ship from porting at the declarer’s island while the declaration stands. The declarer’s royalty may rescind the declaration by a majority vote.
In order to blockade an island, a flag must “drop a war chest” on the island. The chest will be from 25k to 125k depending on the size of the island. To drop a chest the attacker must declare war on the flag that holds the island.
A full-on war only exists if the declaration is returned. In this case both flags ships are embargoed from any island the other flag holds, and anytime ships from the 2 flags meet on a battle board, it will be possible for one of the ships to sink and be lost. If a war declaration as a result of a blockade and is returned, the blockade will be sinking.
An “embargo” can be circumvented by temporarily transferring a ships deed to a pirate in a flag that’s not at war, or by simply leaving a ship at the islands league point where it will auto-port after about 20 or 30 minutes. When a ship auto-ports, everything in the booty chest is lost. The question of whether or not the hold is emptied of commodities is, as of yet, unclear. A test I was conducting to definitively answer that question was inconclusive, because I forgot to check the ship after it auto-ported and I no longer remember what ship it was. Stay tuned to this post for further information.
If war is declared but not returned, the declaration will stand until the declaring flag votes to rescind it. If the declaration is returned, a state of war will exist until one of the warring flags petitions for a truce. If both flags offer a truce, the war will end right away. If only one flag offers a truce but the other flag doesn’t accept it, the war will end in 7 days.
Absolutely nothin’…
