I was looking around and did not see anything to help a officer who hasn't run a SMH and is looking to run one, so here is my opinion of what i do for SMH's if you have any questions ask below. This will just be Haunted Seas runs not Atlantis i am separating them but much is the same.
Haunted Seas more commonly known as HS there are two ways to run them, One common then the other.
graveyard runs and Monster hunts
The main difference is for gravyard runs you have to win Sword Fights and then haul to get poe were Monster hunts you sink ships then haul.
People tend to like it better if go for Gravyard because it means SFing and if ye plan to do a monster hunt go to lantis instead.
For sure before you run a HS you need a Naver (you) and a MAA (ill explain later)
Now how you run also depends on your ship size
The most common is a War Brig max of 30 people with this size ship you can run both types but graveyards are more effective here.
The next most common i see is a Junk Normally when someone takes a junk they are almost as common as a WB same idea go for gravyards
and the last one you might see is a sloop (i have done this before and it is fun and cheep)
Very hard i will make a separate thing for running a sloop (Not a thing to do first time you will probably sink.)
Stock needed
WB -- Not fully sure but about 400-800 med CB and 200 ish Rum depends on how good ye be and how long ye wish to stay in. For a newer naver i suggest about 400 meds and 150-200 rum and for a newer naver set an amount of poe like 200k then i leave because people can think man were doing great lets stay in then you lose even more when ye sink.
Junk -- WB and greater are the only ships that can really go in trying to sink other ships so for a junk i would say graveyards. You want about 200 to 400 large CB and 120 ish rum (more then better depends on how often ye sink) focus on getting to gravyards
Sloop - 10-20 cb for blanks and 10-20 rum if ye get hit much ye are going down
Gunner
On a WB you want max gunners and you need them master + at the least normally you want gm + if possible (if you look at the video below you will see why)
What does having extra people do for a ship?
Lets look at a WB 24 stations 30 max amount of people
That leaves 6 people to for defending your ship In HS computers slowly start to come onto your ships which you have to SF to get them off this is what a MAA does. With 6 extra people you have 6 available SFers without having to take anyone off a station vs a junk were you have about 1 extra person so you have to pull stations.
How to load fastest possible
Some tips for loading faster
1 Have the best naver in our crew on the ship show up for jobbing naver stats are looked at when people job
2 have a message saying ye are going for graveyards
3 have your MAA welcoming people telling who the MAA is who is Naving
4 Ask them to ask their heartys
5 Let them know how man more mates needed every so often
6 With the message on the board for a wb normaly say Sailing on 20 (meaning you sail to the cit place when you hit about 20 mates)
7 if you do not have 4 gunners tell in the message that you are in need of gunners rank ... or above.

This is a youtube video i saw that shows some naving some things i want to point out are at about the 50 second mark the ship moves forward into the wall to stop the other ship from being able to move around.
Look at how often he is firing and moving
The walls are also soft walls so hitting them doesn't damage the ship when you are going to just try to sink Monsters you sit at the side. When you stay close to your spawn you can run at any time and wont sink
and at about 220 you can see the new piece and the difference it makes (it is a 1v1 vs a dragoon)

You will be facing the same ships and they take less to sink then a normal ship.

These vessels are weaker than their original counterparts, but are capable of sailing through rocks. When one of these vessels passes into a tile that shares space with a rock, shots fired at it will hit the ship rather than the rock.
In addition, each of these ships has a rank in the form of a prefix which denotes the general ferocity and skill of its crew. From easiest to hardest, these ranks are Ethereal, Phantasmal, Frightful and Spectral.
If the attacking team is successful, an "aura blast" emanates from the ship, and any ghost vessels in the vicinity are eliminated; this allows the crew to then treasure haul Barnabas' treasure. You can turn in place, after the swordfight, using regular turn movement tokens.

The beginning is my favorite if ye look at the side it shows what a MAA sees and a great look over all of HS
(UNFINISHED GUIDE AT THE MOMENT)
I will be editing this more but wanted to post some parts of it and i will update what I'm missing and try to make it easier to read.
