Midnight Serenade will be hosting the July flag contest on July 26. Don't attend unless you want to win poe and have fun. All crew mates are encourged to participate.
If you're an Officer or above and would like to reserve a nave spot for the contest, post your intentions here. The number of navers needed will depend on the number of contestants, so nav spots will be awarded on a first-come first-served bases.
The object of this contest will be to pillage on a sloop for 2 hours (or less if you wish) and make the best five card poker hand you can out of the commodities you pillage. You may pillage anywhere on the ocean. Card values have been assigned randomly to the commodities available on Midnight. A list of commodities and their matching card value is posted following these rules. It is recommended that you print this list for later reference. Your poker hand will be made from the pillaged commodities based on the list.
Contest participants will meet on the Black Ling for random crew assignments and last minute instructions or questions. Send a request in /fo or crew or send a tell to any Midnight Serenade officer to be jobbed over and please help your non-officers in this regard.
Participants are asked post in this thread if they would like to volunteer to be a driver. Driver assignments will be on a first come first served basis depending on the number of participants. Loaner sloops will be available on a limited basis, but contestants are encouraged to use their own sloops. If there are not enough requests to drive, drivers will be shanghaied from the available participants.
Everyone will be on their honor to start the pillage with an empty booty chest.
The start and finish announcements will be given over /fo chat and warnings that the finish time is near will also be given. All ships should be in port before the finish announcement.
A commodity may represent only one card, even though there may be more than one unit in the booty chest. Some commodities represent jokers and jokers are wild.
In the event of a tie (highly unlikely) the ship that pillages the most PoE will be declared the winner.
After the finish, one of the judges will ask to be jobbed onto each ship. A representative of the ship will announce the commodities to be used for the ships hand to the judge and the judge will check the booty chest. Do not divvy before the judge checks the booty chest.
In the interest of impartiality, the judges will only be checking your commodities. They will not tell you if you can make a better hand. Help determining your best hand may come from any other source. The order of hands will be posted in this thread.
Prizes will be awarded and protests will be heard (but ignored)following the checking of booty chests.
