Tic Tac Prize is a trivia game with a bit of strategy. We play it with a bingo-style board, but everyone's board is the same: a grid with column headings A through E and rows of 1 through 5, similar to this example:
===========
Game Play:
A trivia question will be asked. The first mate to answer correctly will then call out an available square on the board. (A1-E5)
Squares on the board serve a dual purpose. Behind each square is one or more fabulous prizes! Also, squares claimed can accumulate toward winning the Grand Prizes at the end of the game!
Grand Prize- Frost-class sloop
Runner up- Sloop
========
How to win the Grand Prizes:
1) Claim all 5 squares in any row, column, or diagonal. The mate who can do this is the #1 Grand Prize winner, regardless of the below-mentioned consecutive adjacent square count.
2) After all 25 trivia questions have been asked and answered, be the mate who has claimed the most consecutive adjacent squares on the board. Consecutive adjacent squares are neighbors on the board in any direction, including diagonally. ( You *do not* have to claim your squares in order. Only the end result counts. Also, it's not necessarily the pirates who answer the most questions correctly who will win both prizes.. it's who chose their prize squares most strategically- see example below.)
- End Scores Example-
"Sweeping Ogizzle" chose all the squares in the C column. He wins the Grand Prize!
"Greasy Pete" chose: B3, B4, D1, D5 - he has 2 consecutive adjacent squares.
"Silly Sven" chose: B1, B2, D2, D3 - he has 2 consecutive adjacent squares. (Multiple small groupings don't add together.)
"Witty Willie" chose: E2, E3, D4 - he has 3 consecutive adjacent squares.
"Squeaky Jill" chose: A2, B5, E4, E1 - she has no consecutive adjacent squares.
Even though he answered the least amount of trivia questions correctly, Willie scored the best out of the remaining players, so he wins the Second-place Grand Prize in this example.
=======
Guidelines for a Smooth-Playing Game:
1) Have fun!!
2) It is very advisable for ye to create your own board to help keep track of claimed squares, so that you can...
3)... Be ready to call out your choice when necessary.
4) Please approach Omphale on the ship to receive your prize(s) after you call out your square choice.
5) Please be fair with your guesses. Meaning, for example, if a question is calling for an answer of *one* specific island, please don't type a series of island names in one go. If your answer is incorrect, you may guess again, but only after another mate has posted after you . (Hopefully this rule will help even the advantage of faster typers.)
====================
- What if there's a tie for the Grand Prizes?
If the mates involved in the tie are still aboard, there will be the option of one or two additional questions to determine the winners.
If anyone is missing, I will simply put their names into a bag and random draw to give the prizes.
========
I hope ye enjoy the game!
